The Velvet Underground "Banana" Tee 1967

The Velvet Underground & Nico (1967) with Andy Warhol's peelable banana cover is one of the most influential albums in rock history. MGM/Verve produced limited promotional merchandise for what was, at the time, a commercial failure — the album allegedly sold only 30,000 copies in its first five years. Brian Eno's famous quote: "The first Velvet Underground album only sold 10,000 copies, but everyone who bought one formed a band." Original 1967-72 promotional merchandise is extraordinarily rare.
