DESCRIPTION
Lee's 101Z jeans from the 1950s are among the most important American denim artifacts. The Z back pocket stitching, the Union Made label, and the sanforized selvedge denim construction distinguish early examples. Lee competed directly with Levi's throughout this era, producing jeans that were the workwear standard for American craftsmen, ranchers, and laborers. 1950s Lee 101Z with the original chain-stitched hem and paper patch are considered equivalent to Levi's Big E in collectibility. Value: $2,000–$8,000.
