No.1 Lot 0001 Hand-Painted Prototype 1991

The very first Evisu jeans — the prototype Lot 0001 hand-painted by Hidehiko Yamane himself in his Osaka workshop in 1991 — represents the birth of the Japanese premium denim movement. Yamane hand-painted each pair individually with the seagull logo using a brush, working alone or with one assistant. The prototype pieces from before Evisu had an official tag or retail presence are the ultimate Japanese denim holy grail. Only a handful of these prototype pieces are known to survive.
