Air Huarache "International" 1991

Tinker Hatfield's Air Huarache (1991) introduced neoprene to athletic footwear and created the template for the modern performance trainer. The original "International" colorway — white with black detailing — is the most pure expression of Hatfield's design intent. 1991-95 USA-made examples with the original Air Huarache branding are available for $80–$200. The Huarache's influence on Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, and every other luxury brand's sneaker program is now undeniable. Upside: $400–$1,200.
