The Low End Theory (1991) is widely considered the greatest hip-hop album ever made. Jive Records produced limited promotional merchandise for the album's release. ATCQ's jazz-sampling, Afrocentric aesthetic represented the intellectual alternative to gangsta rap. Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White created a sound that influenced every subsequent generation of hip-hop producers.
