Stand Up Shorts 1982

Patagonia's original Stand Up Shorts from the early 1980s are the oldest collectible Patagonia garment after the rugby shirts. Designed for rock climbers who needed articulated movement in a casual short, the Stand Ups featured reinforced seams and a gusseted crotch. Made in USA on heavyweight cotton canvas, early examples carry the original Patagonia label without the mountain logo. The outdoor utility-meets-casual aesthetic made these the prototype for modern activewear. Value: $200–$700.
