DESCRIPTION
Edwin was founded in 1947 by Yoshio Kinoshita and introduced selvedge denim production to Japan. The 503 model from the 1970s is one of the earliest Japanese premium denim items. Edwin's innovation of using the kanji 衣 (clothing) reversed to spell "Edwin" embedded Japanese textile culture into international denim. The 1970s Japanese domestic market examples with the original Edwin red flash label are the earliest authenticated Japanese selvedge denim collectibles. Value: ¥30,000–¥150,000.
