DESCRIPTION
Sugar Cane — founded by Toyo Enterprise in 1981 — produces reproduction denim garments using period-authentic construction techniques that predate the major Japanese reproduction denim movement. The Type III denim jacket from the 1990s, based on the 1960s Levi's Type III but produced with superior Japanese selvedge denim, is available for $100–$250. As reproduction denim collecting matures and Toyo Enterprise's other brands (Buzz Rickson's, East Man) achieve recognition, Sugar Cane will follow. Upside: $400–$1,200.
