DESCRIPTION
Champion invented the reverse weave construction in 1938 to prevent vertical shrinkage, cutting the fabric horizontally across the body. Early examples feature the iconic "C" logo bar tag, a single hood cording, and thick loopback cotton. University issue sweatshirts from the 1950s–60s are the most coveted, particularly Harvard, Yale, and Michigan in deadstock condition. These regularly fetch $2,000–$5,000.
