Board Shirt

The Pendleton Board Shirt became synonymous with California surf culture in the early 1960s when it was adopted by surfers who needed warmth between waves. The heavy virgin wool plaid construction, locker loop, and back box pleat are hallmarks of the era. The Beach Boys wore Pendletons on their first album cover, cementing its place in American pop culture. Jan and Dean, Dick Dale, and the entire surf music scene were clothed in Pendleton.
